This is the official website for the Cameron Heights physics club! We meet most Fridays in room C427, where we will be being enthusiastic about physics and prepare for the SIN contest in May.

Now is a time of trasnition for our club. Previously we were the science club, but due to interest and new availability we are now the physics club. We have lots of fun stuff in store for this semester.

Please sign-up using the button below.

(Even if you were signed up for science club last semester please fill out this new form)

Week 7 we discussed non-Newtonian fluids and how they work then demonstrated the phenomenon by making goop! with cornstarch and water.

Week 6 due to pending safety approval on an experiment we had a discussion about the two leading modals of quantum behavior and watched a Veritasium video to aid in the explanation on how they work.

Week 5 we had a discussion about how to colonize Mars and watched a few short SciShow Space videos on the topic.

Week 4 we watched a SciShow episode about the Nobel Prizes for chemistry and physics this year and then did an activity which simulated gravity wells of different masses objects as well as binary and trinary star systems.

Week 3 we watched a quick video on how to get to space by XKCD and Minute Physic. Then we spent the rest of lunch in two teams playing with Kerbal Space Program in a race to get a rocket of the teams' design into orbit. A link to get the free demo (which is what we used for the competition) is on the resource page.

Week 2 we watched an episode of Crash Course Astronomy on neutron stars and then attempted to build a star in a computer simulation. If you haven't filled out the survey yet (button above) now is the time to fill it out as we started taking attendance which will qualify you for CAS hours, being in the yearbook, and awards from the school. The only way to get on the attendance list is to fill out the survey.

Week 1 we did introductions for the club and its leaders, Raya and Donovan. We talked about what we might do in the club (activities, watch videos, have discussions, and write the Sir Issac Newton physics contest, and more), as well as began talks about topics. The current plan is to cover a different scientific field each month but if a majority of interest lies in physics we can adjust our plans (another reason to fill out the survey).
